Privacy policy

Loudly is built so that your meetings stay on your Mac. This page says exactly what that means, including the cases where text leaves it.

In short

  • Recordings, transcripts and notes are stored on your Mac.
  • Audio is transcribed on your Mac and is never sent to a summary provider.
  • Text leaves your Mac only for a cloud provider you choose, and only the text described below.
  • Google Calendar is read-only, and its tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain.
  • Loudly has no analytics. This website sets no cookies.

What Loudly stores on your Mac

Recordings, transcripts, notes, settings and speech models are saved in a folder in your home directory, ~/.loudly. Loudly has no account system and does not upload them to us. To remove your meetings, delete that folder.

What can leave your Mac

Only when you turn it on, and only to the provider you pick.

FeatureProvider you chooseWhat it receives
Meeting summariesOpenRouter, OpenAI or AnthropicYour transcript and your notes. Not the audio.

Summaries are off until you choose a provider. Each provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to what it receives. You bring your own API key. Loudly stores each key in the macOS Keychain, in a separate entry per provider, and checks it with the provider before saving.

Google Calendar

Connecting Google Calendar is optional. Loudly signs you in through your browser and asks for two read-only permissions: view events on your calendars, and view your list of calendars. It never creates, edits or deletes anything. The access and refresh tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. They are not written to Loudly's settings files or logs. You can disconnect an account in Settings.

Loudly reads upcoming events from Google Calendar directly on your Mac to show your next meeting and to offer joining and recording. Calendar data is used for that purpose only, and Loudly does not sell it, share it, or use it for advertising.

Loudly's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Other connections Loudly makes

  • Updates. Loudly checks Loudly's update channel for a newer version and downloads it only when you choose to install it.
  • Speech models. The models used for transcription are downloaded from Hugging Face when you set them up.
  • Tools you choose. Loudly can expose selected meetings, read-only, to AI tools on your Mac that you configure. Meetings you have not selected are not available to them.

Recording other people

Loudly starts recording when you press Record, without a prompt. You are responsible for telling the other people in the meeting and for following the recording laws that apply to you.

This website

This website is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no scripts, fonts or images from other sites. If you pick a language, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage; it is never sent to us. The download page reads the current version from Loudly's update channel in your browser. Our hosting provider may keep standard server access logs.
